Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole's After Election Victimization Plan

The Edo State PDP wishes to inform the general public of Governor Adams Oshiomhole's after election plan to victimize notable Edo personalities that showed a preference for our party and our candidates in the just held Edo State Governorship Election.

We are reliably informed that the targets of this persecution and humiliation are some traditional rulers from Edo Central Senatorial District which in this election, despite the APC's extraordinary manipulation, still proved that it is a PDP stronghold and thus demystifying Adams Oshiomhole as the absolute conqueror of Edo State.

Pursuant to carrying out his ultimate plan of suspending these particular royal fathers from the Edo State Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs, we have learnt that the governor has ordered the police to take them in for interrogation and indictment.

We want to advise the governor to desist from this course of action which could be considered as ethnic cleansing. Why should Adams Oshiomhole take exception to the support of the PDP when the party got endorsed by many traditional rulers and the APC also sought their endorsement?

It is ironic that Adams Oshiomhole who had always relished his own endorsement by Edo traditional rulers until he fell out of favour because of his anti people policies and actions should be angry that they could extend the favour to another person.

The outgoing governor, with less than a month left of his eight years tenure, should focus on his transition programme instead of seeking to fight or punish perceived enemies. After elections, those declared winners, whether rightly or wrongly should be in the fore front of unifying the state and not further polarize it along ethnic lines.

We want to use this medium to call on the police and other state security agencies to avoid being used on partisan sentiments and by partisan intetests. It is about time they rose up to the occasion in defence of professionalism and the constitutional role of the force. The police and the other security agencies belong to all citizens and not the ruling party and their agents. They should therefore be guided accordingly in their dispositions and actions.

We also want to use this medium to urge our party members and our supporters to remain steadfast in the face of intimidation, harassment, victimization and temptation. The PDP is committed to reclaiming our stolen mandate through constitutional means and our faith in God. The day of restoration is closer than we can imagine.

God bless Edo State.

Signed

Chris Osa Nehikhare
Publicity Secretary
PDP Edo State
